This really depends on your relationship with this attorney. If you have a longstanding relationship with this attorney and you have complete faith and trust in this attorney, this may be an acceptable designation. Make sure the attorney is successful and would never need the money entrusted to him under this power.

Depends on why the attorney needs a Power Of Attorney. If he needs to obtain documents or discuss your matter with the taxing entity, your attorney cannot do so unless they have a Power Of Attorney.

Your tax attorney cannot communicate with the IRS on your behalf without a duly executed IRS Form 2848 Power of Attorney.
